Speaker of Parliament Anita Among has hailed the Government Spokesperson, Ofwono Opondo as a stubborn but consistent servant.
Among praised Opondo, the Executive Director of Uganda Media Center for consistently defending government amidst a barrage of insults hauled at him.
“As NRM, we thank you for being a consistent servant of the party and government… It is not easy to serve for all those years while being attacked all the time,” Among said this while attending a funeral mass of the late, Mama Alice Owenjuye Opondo, the mother of Opondo at St. Luke Church of Uganda, Ntinda on Wednesday.
Mama Alice, 85, passed away on Monday at Mukono General Hospital after a long illness.
Opondo lightened the mood at the church when he said he is one of the most consistent public servants who has served in the same position for many years.
“I am the third most consistent person in government after President Museveni and Hajji Kigongo. I have served for as long as the NRM government,” he said.
Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa who also attended the requiem mass lauded Opondo for being a purposeful and intentional servant of the people.
Among other top dignitaries who attended the funeral service include; Minister of ICT and National Guidance, Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, his junior minister, Joyce Ssebugwawo, and Members of Parliament.
