From 1 July, the cost of a standard mountain-gorilla permit for Bwindi and Mgahinga climbs from $700 to $800. The one-hour viewing fee now packages digital tracking bracelets for visitors, upgraded ranger radios and an extra $10 community levy for schools and clinics near the parks. Uganda Wildlife Authority says the price hike will help finance ranger recruitment and a planned Gorilla Interpretation Centre opening in 2025. Four-hour habituation permits remain at $1,500 but now guarantee groups of just four trekkers per family, down from six.
