British Tourists’ Killer to be Charged Today

The suspected killer of a Ugandan and British couple at Queen Elizabeth National Park will today, be arraigned before Nakawa Chief Magistrates Court.

Abdul Rashid Kyoto was recently arrested by UPDF Marine Forces on L. Edward. Two of his associates were shot dead and others escaped in a boat.

It is believed that Kyoto and others, belonging to a terrorist group ambushed two tourists from the UK and South Africa and their Ugandan guide and killed them before setting their vehicle on fire on 17th October 2023.

Acccording to the Office of the Director of Public Prosectuons (ODPP), charges against Kyoto have been sanctioned and the suspect will be arraigned before court today.

“DPP, Jane Frances Abodo has sanctioned two charges of terrorism, three charges of murder, three charges of aggravated robbery and one charge of belonging to a terrorist organization against Rashid Abdul Kyoto alias Tembo in respect of the attack at Queen Elizabeth National Park…,” the statement reads.

Prosectuon says during the attack, two motor vehicles; Mercedes Benz cargo truck and a Toyota Land Cruiser were burnt and the passports, money and visa cards of the tourists, identity cards and employment card, driving permit of the Ugandan were taken by the suspect and his associates.

The two British honeymooning couple; David James Barlow and Geyer Emmarentia Cecilia and Ugandan guide, Eric Alyai were killed during the attack.
