Former Minister Nyombi Turns Karaoke Singer in Bar

The former State Minister for Information Technology, Thembo Nyombi is a man of many hats! When he lost his Parliamentary seat and cabinet job in 2016, he did not ‘retire to the village,’ he picked up the rags and hit the streets.

Nyombi on Wednesday night shocked revelers at Kantina bar, a popular hangout in Kiwatule when he stormed the stage to perform at the live band concert.

In the video that was posted by a senior journalist, Ivan Okuda, Nyombi is seen performing a ‘kikaade’ (old local jam) to the amusement of the revelers.

Okuda tweeted saying, “After losing election for MP and his ministerial position, Mr. Nyombi Thembo now focuses on his real estate and tourism businesses, among others. Yesterday he came to Kantina bar in Kiwatule for our Wednesday band night, got off his seat and performed for us. We enjoyed!”

Thembo Nyombi is a distinguished economist and politician. He served as the MP for Kassanda South County and served as State Minister for Information Technology from 2011.

Currently, he is the Director for the Rural Development Communication Fund (RCDF) at the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC).
