Museveni Directs MDAs to Print from Vision Group, UPPC

President Yoweri Museveni has directed government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to prioritize Vision Group and Uganda Printing and Publishing Corporation (UPPC) for printing services.

Vision Group and UPPC are both government owned agencies with majority shares.

In his letter dated 28th September, 2021, Museveni has directed the Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja to ensure that that all printing works from MDAs is given to Vision Group and Entebbe based UPPC.

Apparently, the request came after Museveni recently met the Board members and management of Vision Group led by CEO Don Wanyama who appealed to him to help them secure printing work from MDAs.

“They (Vision Group) indicated to me that they have, over the years invested over Shs45billion in three state-of-art printing presses, making them one of the biggest printers in the region. However, they notified to me that, whereas MDAs spend over shs50billion annually on printing work alone, very little of this work, goes to them and the government Printing and Publishing Corporation in Entebbe,” Museveni said in his letter to Nabbanja.

“I am therefore, directing you to communicate to Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies to ensure that all their printing works are done by Vision Group and UPPC, Entebbe.”

Vision Group incorporated as the New Vision Printing & Publishing Company Limited (NVPPCL), is a multimedia business housing newspapers, magazines, internet publishing, televisions, radios, commercial printing, advertising and distribution services. On the other hand, UPPC is government printing entity mandated to provide printing and publishing services to government ministries, departments, and agencies, NGOs, private sector organizations and individuals.

The government printing agency has of late been submerged in a huge corruption scandal that led to the suspension of its Board of Directors and top managers.
