Police Cautions Ugandans On Safety As Night Economy Fully Re-Opens

Uganda Police has cautioned Ugandans to carefully manage the full Re-opening of the Night Economy safely.

While addressing Journalists on Monday, the Police spokesperson Fred Enanga reminded all the re-opening sectors about the threat of terrorism passed by individual actors and small groups inspired primarily by ADF as some of these hangout places are soft targets.

“We have greatly disrupted some of the real threats posed by these terrorists, they still remain determined on causing harm to Ugandans and other citizens in the Country which calls for extra vigilance as we go about our daily activities,” Says Fred Enanga.

Enanga added that due to the fact that demand for night clubs, social entertainment, bars, saunas as well as unrestricted movements for motorists is already high as everyone is excited, Ugandans should be keen to adhere to the SOPs to avert the spread of the virus simply because mask wearing and social distancing requirements are very lax in night clubs, bars and discos.

He encouraged Ugandans to be careful as the re-opening comes with an increase in numbers of new cases of Covid-19, the night economy should manage ventilation systems in all venues, sanitation stations, throughout all clubs, increased frequency of cleaning schedules and the deployment of high trained staff who are well trained in crowd management controls.
