The Deputy chairperson of the National Prevention of Traficking in Persons, Agnes Igoye has cautioned social media users against sharing photos and videos of pregnant girls and teenage mothers who are in school studying.
“There are some social media users who have been taking pictures of these pregnant girls, an act that violets teens’ privacy since many are still under age. Those who are taking photos of teenage mothers studying, please let them study,” says Igoye.
She added that,“ It is rwrong , I have not seen any pictures of the men that impregnanted them.Those girls have gone through alot already.”
She urged Police in all districts to protect these girls as such behaviour is wrong and immoral, If caught they will be punished according to the law.
She also asked Parents who are tormented to report to the Authorities so that serious action is taken.
Those found doing it are liable to imprisonment on conviction and once caught will be arrested to answer charges related to shaming girls.
This comes as Schools were under lock down for two years and many teenage girls got pregnant, after schools were re-opened the Ministry of Education and Sports accepted child mothers and pregnant learners to resume their studies.
