The Chieftaincy Of Military Intelligence(CMI) has arrested Maj Alpha Okua over shooting a Traffic Police Office, Robert Mukebezi to help on investigations.
The UPDF Spokesperson Ronald Kakurungu says that Maj Alpha Okua has since explained that Mukebezi was shot by Corporal Babangida Bashir Mango who is currently on a run.
“Maj Okua was arrested and he is helping on investigations, there has been bad and wrong information going around that it is Maj Okua who evacuated the wounded traffic officer. He first went to kira Road police and recorded the statement, he drove Mukebezi to Mulago. He was the most senior officer and he took responsibility ,” Says kakurungu.
This happened lastweek when a UPDF vehicle number, H4DF 1391 knocked a sign post and Mukebezi who was on duty at kira road division, Mukebezi intervened as he ordered for a breakdown truck to tow the wreckage to Kira Road Police Station.
In the process, another UPDF vehicle number, H4DF 922 that was commanded by Maj. Alpha Okua also approached the scene but unfortunately they went into a heated argument and corporal Mango drew out his gun, shot and injured the traffic officers leg.
Mukebezi is still at Victoria Hospital receiving treatment as the suspect abandoned his at Bukasa Village and is apparently on a run.
The Military Police and CMI are still hunting for him as they strongly condemn the acts of impunity and abuse of Authority.
